The Griffin: Guardian of the Sacred
In the mythologies of Greece, Persia, Egypt, and medieval Europe, the griffin occupied a singular role: guardian of treasure. Not gold in the crude sense — but of things considered too valuable to leave unprotected. Sacred temples. Divine knowledge. Alchemical secrets.
The eagle — sovereign of the sky, symbol of vision, foresight, and elevation. The lion — sovereign of the earth, symbol of courage, nobility, and raw power. The griffin is neither compromise nor hybrid. It is the union of two supremacies into something that transcends both.
In heraldic tradition, the griffin represented valour and vigilance — the simultaneous capacity for action and awareness. It was never given to houses that merely accumulated. It was given to houses that protected what they had built.
Why a Griffin Guards This House
Fragrance, at its most serious, is an act of protection. It preserves memory. It guards identity. It holds the invisible line between who you present to the world and who you carry within.

We chose the griffin because we are not building a fragrance brand that chases. We are building one that guards its standard.
The Name: CHYRONYX™
The name itself is forged from ancient roots. Chyro-, drawn from the Greek cheiro (χείρ) — the hand, the craft, the act of shaping something with deliberate skill. And -nyx, from Nyx (Νύξ) — the primordial goddess of Night in Greek mythology, older than the Olympians, a force so fundamental that even Zeus was said to fear her.

It is a name that carries its meaning without explanation. The hand that shapes. The night that transforms. The precision of artisanship fused with the depth and mystery of darkness — where fragrance does its most honest work.
Because fragrance lives in proximity. In the space between bodies. In the hours after sundown when the air cools and skin chemistry deepens. In the quiet rooms where memory is formed. Night is not absence — it is atmosphere. And atmosphere is what we build.

CHYRONYX is an Indian house with a mythological vocabulary that belongs to no single civilisation. The griffin appears in Indian art as the Sharabha — a creature of immense power, part bird, part lion, depicted in temple carvings across South and Southeast Asia for centuries. The roots are older than borders.
We chose these symbols because they carry weight without requiring translation. A griffin on a bottle is understood in Mumbai, in Milan, in Marrakech. The craft of night needs no cultural footnote.
